Warm Christmas Cheer

First of all, Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwaanza and all a dat to everyone!!! For all you atheists: PEACE. How's that? Last night I went to my sister and Naomi's Christmas party and had the best time. We ate, drank and played a Secret Santa game while everyone showed off their ugly Christmas sweaters. It was the theme to the party! I will post pix of everyone later, but just had to get down the thoughts while they are fresh. We caught up and had a chance to just hang out, something that I don't do nearly enough with my girlfriends. Meanwhile, Sam, Alex and Jason watched the craziness unfold! Alex's White Russian's (or Caucasians, as he called 'em) were doin the trick, and how good were the sliders and Steph's sesame salad? Also, Jamie hooked it up with a feta cheese salad, I never knew I liked feta! Me and Anita made a nice Godiva chocolate platter that pretty much kept ME busy all night!
Basically, it was all the old crew just kickin' it like we used to... and I'm grateful for them all!

MERRY CHRISTMAS YALL! LOVE YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Go elf yourself!!

Today I've been making myself roll with laughter, snorting and crying with this little video making site by Office Max. All you have to do is upload pix from your computer, adjust the size and position, choose a type of music and sit back and enjoy. It also has the option to purchase the video so you can download it, either to a disc or maybe just to your hard drive, and send it to whoever you want! You may also buy a mug with your Elf image on it or other stuff-- not sure, but check it out! The site's address is: http://www.elfyourself.jibjab.com/

Just a thought....

I was out the other day, and for those of you who don't know me: I rely upon L.A.'s awful public transportation system. So, I had to be approx. 6 miles away from home, for an appt. at 10:30 am; I left at 8:30 to be safe. I even stopped to grab a coffee thinking that I was being silly with my two hour window. Mind you, I always give ample time to get places, who wants to be late? So, it has to be the ONE FCKN day it rains and actually gets COLD in my crappy city-- the day that I'm going someplace that I've never been. (BTW: isn't life like that? Cold rain on a day where I'm obviously going to be wandering around) So, I ruined it... I went up and down this street on the damn bus and the drivers were the meanest, most rude jerks I've ever encountered on the MTA. And that's a lot. I finally got to my destination after calling a few people, at last reaching one who wasn't busy. (Sam, you are the best!) Of course, I ended up there after running up the damn street (about 8 blocks-- biiiig ones) looking at addresses. Now, it was cold (I know, I know- L.A. cold is whatever, but it really was!) but after my sprint I was HOT and at the very moment I stepped into the right place, I realized that in rushing I had forgotten to put on deoderant. Heh, I'm not usually a stinky person, but at that moment in time-- your girl was on STANK. I ended up waiting for 2 1/2 hours (had to take next appt since I missed first one) and finishing up my book on the FLDS, them crazy fundamentalist Morons, uh I mean Mormons. After I left, I was starving and on the verge of collapse, but I took my bus home and dealt with that there. In short, or long for that matter-- I had a crappy day!

Las Vegas in Los Feliz

All those who were special enough to be friends with The Status Faction were invited to Gabe's birthday party last weekend. His girlfriend was spot on with creating a Vegas themed suare in Phylo's house, complete with tables and dealers!! After we maneuvered Gabe up to the surprise welcome, the drinks flowed and all bets were on! There was roulette, Texas Hold 'Em and Blackjack in the house and Poker (or something else, who knows it was too damn cold out there) on the patio. I spent most of my night drinking Hennessey and yukkin' it up with the Roulette dealer- let's name him Chuck. Chuck was awesome! The night ended in me barfing up corn chips, but I must say- I had fun! My drink of choice (Hennessey & Iced Tea w/lotsa ice) may have to change, my body not being able to handle that shit anymore, but one must learn. Anyway, take a look see- me at a party: un-fricken-believable!!!!

Mateo on the mind...

Yesterday I had the extreme pleasure of spending the day with my best friend and her son, Mateo! He is almost 6 months old (riiiiiight around the corner) and is quite literally, a big ball of joy! He gurgles, pumps his arms and legs constantly and basically has the art of CHILLing down pat - no pun intended! He IS his mother's son, lemme tell you! We sat eating, talking, laughing and watching TV, and this little guy hung with us... how amazing is he??!! No crying, no squirming, especially on my lap, just the most serene baby I've ever known! (Sorry Gracie, you were CRAZY when you were his age!) He is a chubby bit of happy love and I miss his face already! COME BACK, MATEO!!!!!!!!!!! Love him........

Happy Turducken!!

It's almost December- the holidays have begun! Thanksgiving was nice, we drove the Passat down (LOVE Becca, she's a dream!) to San Diego, that's right folks, the Dirty Waffle. Made it there AND back on $26 and still had gas to spare at the trip's end. We made the requesite stops for snacks and even found a spot for breakfast burritos the size of a Smart Car. It was about as greasy as the driveway, but that's ok. The drive up was nice, even though we hit a little storm around Irvine, it was all good. After a nice big dinner with all the trimmings and two pieces of pie we headed home- a nice big coffee first, and NO TRAFFIC. Sometimes, I think that the stars line up and good things happen to me!! I put on some music and put my hand in Sam's and thought of all the gifts I have... I'm thankful for my husband, my stepson, my family and very few, but very DEAR friends, my niece and nephew(s; Mateo!!), my health, and all the love I am able to feel now. Thank God I'm together and alive!!!!!!!!!!

A/C in the Fall

This weekend was fun, went to a bar called Air Conditioned (and that it was) located on Lincoln Bl. in Venice... it was a birthday party, so a bunch of us ordered appetizers and had drinks. I tried the spinach dip with toasted baguette and my sister tried the sliders. I was pleasantly surprised and she basically spit hers out, so can't say that the food is top notch, but the drinks are good. I had the bartender making me special drinks, whatever I could dream up, she did it!! I love it when I can make up a new drink and here it is: Ketel One with 7UP and marachino cherry juice and one cherry, on the rocks of course. It was awesome and I managed to down like, 8 of them. After not having drinks in months, literally, I got trashed and danced my ass off. Thankfully, I had some super glue and fixed that up. Ended the night at the Townhouse, basically right on the beach down the street, singing Journey and M.I.A. songs at the top of my lungs. After dancing a bit more, I laid my sour smelling head down and fell asleep at my booth. I recommend Air Conditioned, it was cool -- heh, get it?
